On Monday the 30th of November, the grade fives are saying there speech for school captain and RE captain. I am going for school captain. I have finally made my speech and done a poster. I am a bit nervous to say my speech but I am sure I will be fine, I HOPE! Lots of grade fives are going for school captain and there is a good amount of people going for RE captain.
Wish me luck.
Here is another one of my hundred word challenges. We had to use the prompt ‘She just wouldn’t stop crying.
As I look out the window, people are running and screaming. As I heard the gun shot, I was terrified. I thought what is happening until police started to come to our area. A gunshot went through my wall and right through my friends shoulder. She just wouldn’t stop crying. I tried to call the ambulance but the car got bombed. I heard gunshots everywhere but then the doorbell ran. I opened it. The person had a gun. And boom I got shot. I woke up breathing heavily I just realized I was having a scary nightmare. I was terrified.
This years long weekend I have been busy doing mindful colouring. It all started at school when my teacher gave my class a sheet of paper to colour in. It is called mindful colouring, because you aren’t meant to talk to anyone, you are meant to focus on what you are doing. I finished the one that I got from school on Saturday. This is what it looks like:
I also printed some out at home, I finished one of them. But it took me forever! This is what it looks like:
I have been really busy this weekend colouring in. Bye 😮
I wrote this poem with my friend Emilie you should check out her blog. Here is the link to Emilie’s blog. http://emilierss.global2.vic.edu.au/
This is our Onomatopoeia poem.
Woosh woosh a gust of wind flew right past me,
Creak creak someone walked in,
Crash crash something broke,
Whisper whisper I heard a sound,
Drip drip the tap turned on,
Screech screech someone’s runner skidded,
Flick flick the lights started flickering,
Clitter clatter my brother walked in my room,
Sorry sorry I fell down the stairs.
Hopefully you like our poem!
Our Inquiry topic this term is called A Place to Call Home. This unit is about refugees and asylum seekers. I am really excited about this topic because I don’t really know any thing about refugees and asylum seekers. Viviana and Theresa’s mum came to Australia as refugees. We asked her some questions and she answered them and the answers were so interesting.
These are 5 questions that I want to find out:
*What is the difference between refugees and asylum seekers?
*How do the refugees cope with all the coldness on the sea?
*Do asylum seekers get put in detention centers?
*Why are there detention centers?
*What happens when refugees run out of water and food?
I can’t wait until I get further with his topic.
I had my team end of season party. I saw all of my soccer friends. We got together at Timezone. I had so much fun. I kept repeating one of the games but I had an amazing experience doing the Typhoon. This isn’t really a game but it is a “roller coaster.” It had some twists and turns and you are bumping on the seat and to top it all off, it had speakers that was shooting air on you. It is a bit different to a roller coaster but it was really fun. I went on it about 6 times. I can’t wait until next years season for soccer.
This is a cupcake that was made by my friend’s grandma.
On the 18th of September we had ‘Footy Day’ at our school. We were allowed to wear our footy team colours. I wore the North Melbourne colours. Blue and white. At the start of the day the whole school went into our hall and we played the theme song of every team.
Then after that the grade 5 and 6’s got to host activities for the preps to grade 4’s. I did cone footy with my friends Emilie and Mia. This is how cone footy works. You have a partner, a cone and a footy. You put the cone on the ground and the footy on the cone. One of the partners is behind the cone and the footy. They kick the footy to the other partner and they mark it. So then they turn around and go for goal. Then they swap over. ‘Footy Day’ was awesome!
My footy team colours.
Today we are showing the whole school our concert dances. I can’t wait. I have been so happy ever since I heard the news. I am wondering if we have to say our acting parts too. My favourite dance is New York. I think everyone else’s dances are going to be good. I really have wanted to see everyone’s dances. I hope the dances wow me!
On the 24th of August my school had book week. I was dressed up as “Angeline” from Dear Dumb Diary. It was a great day. We had a parade, activities and re-telling a story/play. The Parade: It is a great way to show everyone what you are wearing. The whole school had to say what they were dressed up as and what book it was from. Activities: The grade 5/6’s were hosting the activities. We had to go to the room that we were allocated to and we had to make an activity for the little kids to have fun with. Re-telling a story/play: The grade 5/6’s had to get into groups and re-tell a story and also act. I did the story “Little Cat and the Big Red Bus”. We re-told our story to the school.
Book week was amazing.
We are doing our inquiry differently this term. Each teacher will be focusing on one topic. We went to go and check out each teachers topic and then we chose what we wanted to do. There was Space, Animal Adaptation, Food Chain and Natural disasters. I chose natural disasters. Since there weren’t enough in Food Chain The 5/6 teachers will be both teaching natural disasters. So far it has been great. I either want to work on tsunamis or volcanoes. I can’t choose.
